Nyasia Countee, IBC, CPE, DONA, LEC, CLE
Nyasia’s passion for maternal infant health care evolved from her traumatic birth experiences as a teenage mother in Detroit. She now endeavors to inspire women to birth and nurse without fear through education and support.
Nyasia is an Indigenous Breastfeeding Counselor (IBC), Certified Perinatal Educator (CPE), Certified Birth Doula (DONA), Certified Lactation Educator Consultant (LEC), and Certified Lactation Educator (CLE). She will be sitting for her International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) exam in Spring 2023.
She is the Owner and CEO of Ancient Wisdom Birth Services. Nyasia offers birth and postpartum support but specializes in helping new parents navigate breastfeeding issues in the newborn period.
Alongside her business endeavors, Nyasia has gained much experience as an Obstetrical Surgical Technician at Henry Ford Hospital. She is also a Breastfeeding Educator/Quality Improvement Specialist at the Detroit Medical Center as well as Doula Manager for the DMC Doula initiative. Within QI-TRACS, Nyasia is a Community Organizer for DMC Sinai Grace Hospital and the Detroit area. In all her roles, she is committed to improving breastfeeding initiation and exclusivity rates in Detroit.
Nyaisa is a graduate of the Henry Ford College Lactation Program.
Nyasia enjoys spending time with her children, traveling, canoeing, and hiking.
